A Videophone Performance in Collaboration with Zwemmers Bookshop and Creation Press, staged as part of Rapid Eye 3 national launch.
Using the metaphor of a meeting between the Queen of England and the Emperor of Japan, this videophone performance will address the threat to freedom of speech posed by the global growth of right wing power. The piece will also engage the Liverpool audience in an exchange of conversation and images.
Bull is a video artist and performer. He set up Western Front, an artist-run centre for contemporary artforms in Vancouver, Canada. Kogawa is a Japanese cultural theorist who has published many books on youth culture and polymorphous media. He is also a member of a popular movement of tiny alternative radio stations using home made 1-watt FM transmitters.
The evening will continue with readings and performances from Alan Moore, Andre Stitt and Stuart Home. Gilbert and George will be present to sign copies of Rapid Eye 3.
