Biography: Mike Jones was born in 1962 and
studied fine art at Trent Polytechnic. As
well as producing his own work, he became
the film and video programmer at the
Acton Screen in West London. Mike
Jones did his first installation work in
1984. Since then he has done a variety
of installation and single screen works,
working with artist Graham Ellard, and
here, Simon Robertshaw.


Simon Robertshaw was born in 1960 in
Wales, but went to school in Crosby,
Liverpool. He studied at Wolverhampton
Polytechnic and the Royal College of
Art, and became a part-time lecturer in
video at Gwent College, Newport. Simon
Robertshaw has worked on single
screen tape installations, and on
soundtracks for Chapter Video
Workshop's Channel 4 productions. His
own video work has been exhibited
widely in Britain, and has been shown on
Central TV, TVS and BBC TV.


Simon Robertshaw and Mike Jones first
collaborated on 'The Rise of Public Man'
in 1987, a five monitor installation
commissioned by the National Review of
Live Art at Riverside studios, London and
the Third Eye Centre, Glasgow. Since
then they have produced a series of
tapes together, under the title of 'Towards
a new history of the origins of video art'.
