| Biography: | 1991
Peter Callas was born in Sydney,
Australia, in 1952 and studied at the
University of Sydney before working at
the Australian Broadcasting Commission
and as a lecturer at a number of colleges
and universities in Australia. In 1986
Callas was artist in residence at the
MKT studio in Tokyo and he has also
travelled extensively worldwide exhibiting
his work, teaching and curating.
His work has been seen on television in
Japan, America, the UK, Spain,
Germany and Australia and at festivals
and exhibitions worldwide
including 'Satellite Cultures' at the New
Museum of Contemporary Art in New
York (1989) and the '2nd Video
Television Festival Encore' in Tokyo
(1990). Peter Callas has received a
number of awards and prizes including a
special merit award at the '9th Tokyo
Video Festival' in 1986 and has worked
on artist's residencies in America, Japan
and Australia.
