| | Biography: | Piper was born in Malta and brought up
in Birmingham. He studied at the Royal
College of Art. From 1980 onwards his
work has explored issues around race,
identity and the ongoing legacies of
British imperialism as it has impacted
upon peoples of African descent. He
lives and works in London.
