| Biography: | Hirokazu's first film 'Maborosi' won a
number of plaudits for its thoughtful
study of loss and bereavement and
these issues are explored further and
rather more upliftingly in the more recent
feature 'Afterlife'. Hirokazu's work
demonstrates a deep interest in memory
and his films have a visual quality and
sensibility that illustrate why he is one of
the most accomplished and imaginative
filmmakers at work today.
